Stratus Ag Research and Hebert Group team up to survey Canada’s large-scale farms
Over 400 large-scale farms surveyed at the height of Canada’s trade disputes with the US and China ranked market volatility as the biggest risk to their business for 2025. At the same time, they recognize the need for improved education in finance, accounting and hedging strategies to help them achieve financial success.
In partnership with Stratus Ag Research, the Hebert Group commissioned the survey to assess the key risks facing farmers for the 2025 crop year and identify gaps in agriculture education. It also explored the role of government and policy.
A total of 417 farms, with revenue over $1M, completed the survey from Feb. 2 – March 15th.
In a world full of noise, we wanted clarity.
There’s no shortage of commentary about what farmers should think or might do—but very little that reflects what’s actually happening on farms like ours. That’s why we didn’t just participate in a study—we helped build one.
With Stratus Ag Research, we designed the questions, chose the audience, and focused on the topics that matter most to large-scale producers. Because if we want better answers, we have to ask better questions.
This wasn’t about proving a point. It was about understanding where we are—and where we’re headed.
Thank you to Kent Fraser and the team at Stratus for conducting this survey and to all of the farmers that took the time to answer. You can view the full survey here.
